The Local Food Promotion Program (LFPP) offers grant funds to support the development, coordination, and expansion of local and regional food business enterprises to increase access to and availability of locally and regionally produced agricultural products.
In FY2019, there are two types of project applications are accepted:
Priority consideration will be given to projects that benefit communities located in areas of concentrated poverty with limited access to supermarkets or locally or regionally grown food as defined below.
In the FY 2019 application cycle, AMS received 216 applications and was able to fund 41 (19%) of the applications. Previous grantees can be seen at https://www.ams.usda.gov/services/grants/lfpp/awards.
Projects are not eligible for funding if the proposed activities:
Applications were to be submitted by May 26, 2020. A similar deadline is anticipated annually.
Approximately $13.5 million is available in total funding. A 25 percent cash or in-kind funding match is required.
