    Summary

    The purpose of this program is to provide financial assistance for the planning, program design, and initial implementation of charter schools and support the growth of high-quality charter schools in Texas, especially those focused on improving academic outcomes for educationally disadvantaged students. This will be achieved through administering the 2023–2025 Charter School Program Grant (Subchapter D) to assist eligible applicants in opening and preparing for the operation of newly-authorized charter schools and replicated high-quality schools.

  • Eligibility Details

    Eligible applicants include open-enrollment charter schools that meet the federal definition of a charter school, have never received funds under this grant program, specifically:

    • Academy of Visual and Performing Arts (County District Number 220-821)
    • Brillante Academy (County District Number 108-810)
    • Learn4Life-Austin (County District Number 227-830)

    Deadline Details

    Applications were due by January 16, 2023. A similar deadline is anticipated biennially.

    Award Details

    Total available funding is $2,700,000. It is expected three awards will be granted.
